Today Marg came down from Geraldton to show us how to make those gorgeous baubles from Prarie Points.
She brought along a collection to inspire us and showed us how to start whilst avoiding all those tricky bits she has learnt to overcome.
Soon we all had the hang of it.
Many hands make light work.
By lunch time we had all finished our beautiful bauble and were keen to make another.
Thank you so much Marg, we had a great day under your excellent tuition and thanks Allison for the delicious lunch.

The Public Hanging
The Patch's quilt hanging is over. This triennial event was held yesterday and there are some tired little quilters in town today. Now we can start making more quilts for 2016, that should get us up and moving.
We used a new venue this year, no longer a charming old building steeped in history and accessed by steep steps. This year we tried a new and modern sports complex with a caterers kitchen and clean sleek floor.
Here are some pics.

Magnification
These cheery people, Sandi and Joy, came to the Patch to run a class for us last weekend.
We learnt to make Sandi's version of "Microscope View".
This involved all sorts of tricky sewing but Sandi encouraged us through it all and Joy cheered us along. First we had to select our fabrics and enlarge the pattern on a printer. Then we positioned the "crosshairs" and "lens". This was quite tricky, involving careful cutting and stitching by us all.
Finally we all had our structure done and the fun could begin. Applique, beading, embroidery, so many ways to create our microscoped view. I don't think anyone finished that day, there was too much talking, laughing and eating but we took home our brand new UFOs to finish off soon.
Thanks for the delicious soup for lunch Beatrice and for organising such a great workshop. Thankyou also to Sandi and Joy for the lesson and laughter and to all the students who made such great little quilts..........or they will be quilts soon!

This month's stars
What a great meeting we had at The Patch this week, lots to discuss about the Public Hanging and plenty of show and tell.
Sadie has finished her quilt "Nanna's Farm". Amazing work Sadie.Loris had her Meshwork class samples to show us, Woohoo, lots of opportunities to turn these into great projects.
Jan, our newbie, is producing fabulous work......we think she's well and truly bitten by the quilting bug. Here's my latest finish, I am feeling a bit smug to have finished this.Gloria's Meshwork Samples and a lovely Japanese Knot Bag.But Maria had the biggest number of finishes with two sweet little pin cushions inside a bag, inside another bag, inside a bigger bag and a gorgeous fun machine mat.......does this girl never sleep? Great work Mary/Maria. Might have to interview applicants for a better photographer here! Oops!
Bur our best show and tell this month was Teena, sporting her first haircut since her "chemo" and the news that she only has one more radiation treatment to go. Hooray!
Fabulous news Teena, you look beautiful, radiently healthy and an inspiration to us all.
We love you.

The annual Dongara Patchwork Club Retreat at Avalon in Toodyay,
held on 28-30 June 2013.
What a gorgeous, relaxing break!
Our “teddy” theme
brought all sorts of bears out into the open, from really big ones to the
tiniest, some dressed some not, and of course one of the other variety,
elegantly covered by a silk Kimono!
Some sewing, lots of chatting, laughing, food and friends! It was great.
