Woohoo, Yippee, Zowie, Hooray

Mary has used our new quilting machine and whipped up this little number today.
A first for our club!
It only took a tiny while, 2 hours at the most and half that time was spent
learning how to wind the bobbins on the little beastie.
Isn't Maggie our marvelous machine from Mt Magnet magnificent?
Not to mention Mary the mighty machinist.
This gorgeous little pirate quilt just might have an important date very soon.

The bus arrived...........

...........................filled with happy quilters.
What fun we all had on Saturday.
when the members of Geraldton Patchwork Club come to Dongara to join us for a friendship day.
Some stitching was done.
(the room was sunnier than this photo lets you believe)

Plenty of delicious food of course.

Lots of chatter.

Interesting stories to hear.
Thanks to all who came down from Geraldton helping to make the day so special
and thanks to The Patch girls who helped out.
But the biggest thanks goes to Helen for sharing her lovely home with us all for the day.
Life is sweet when you're a quilter.

We have a new box at the Patch now.

Big enough to put all our quilt stands in and some things we only need for special days.
Extra chairs and over talkative members will fit in too.

We think it might look especially nice with a barn quilt painted on the side.

Now there will be much more room in the club house.....
....space for our new quilting machine.

Some of us are making a mystery quilt and here's a couple finished already.
No more mystery now!

Pat showed us her Crazy Patch quilt, all made of left over fabrics from clothes. Lots of fleecies and knits in here, pieced with zig-zag stitch. A real use of scraps and gorgeous to look at too.

Jean had a flimsie to show us, she's making this up for Camp Quality. Well done Jean and the hand dyed fabric you did sets a great "Beachy" colour scheme.

The Patch has a new toy

......................and we are so excited!
Great thanks to Tarnyia and the past quilters from Mount Magnet
because this little beauty has come to live with us.
The club there has disbanded and with no quilters left to make use
of this machine, Tarnyia and the others offered it to our group.
Ros took the long trip to Mt Magnet to collect it and
I'm really sorry we don't have a pic of them driving home with double story tables on their roof!

Now the machine has been set up in the clubrooms and
a practise quilt will be pinned on soon so we can all practise like mad.
Thank you, thank you, thank you to Tarnyia and  the Mt Magnet Quilters
for this generous gift.

Such concentration.......

always makes for good work......

Todays Workshop with Sandi

What a great day we had today.
Sandi and Joy came to give us a lesson on invisible machine applique.
We were all very good and did exactly what we were told.
No one complained and all our work was amazing

Here's one very hard worker , head down stitching away.
Here's Marie ironing away. See how happy she is.
At the end of the day we had all learnt heaps and had a beautiful block finished.
Thanks to Sandi and Joy, you were great girls.

Friendship Day's are so much fun

Yesterday the Patch had a wonderful Friendship Day at Ros's beautiful new home
We admired the gorgeous views
Enjoyed the sunshine and laughter

Devoured the delicious food

Did a lot of chatting

Admired Loris' latest finish

Were excited by the arrival of  Ros' littlest Grandy when her very pregnant Mummy was rushed to hospital.
We waited for news.......
STOP PRESS: Safe arrival of a baby boy within moments of arriving at hospital.
Then we finished the day with a tour of the house and the views from upstairs...not good lighting for pictures but the view was perfect.
Thanks Ros for being such a wonderful hostess.

Latest pictures of members' quilts shown at the previous meeting night. Always inspirational! And Teena is using the glue from Pauline Rogers for her applique.
