A farewell to Barb

The Patch had a farewell lunch for Barb on Monday to wish her well with her move to South Australia and thank her for being such a hardworking and sharing member of the club.
She has been with us since 1997 and held the position of treasure and secretary a total of four individual times. Each time handling her duties for several years at a stretch. This kind of devotion requires a special gift so we planned and made a quilt of course, one featuring Western Australian wildflowers for Barb to take with her to her new home on the Yorke Peninsular.
Quilting groups are good at "doing food".
Barb's smiling face.
The crowd excitedly watch Barb open her parcel.
Each block was made especially with Barb in mind and the whole thing was quilted by Sandi Kelliher to depict painted china plates. Beautiful work Sandi for a very deserving recipient.
We are sure Barb will be cosy with with all the love in these stitches.

Enjoy your new life near those Grandies Barb and don't forget us....we won't forget you.

Christmas in July

What a wonderful Friendship Day was held last weekend.

A delicious Chrismas dinner with all the trimmings shared amongst 50 quilters from Northampton, Geraldton, Mingenew and Dongara Patchwork Clubs.
I'm sure everyone enjoyed themselves, even joining in with the games and fun.

Some familiar faces and lots of conversation.
Kym and Doreen
Sandi
Helen and Diane
Leonie and Waltruat
There was amazing show'n'tell to enjoy too.
What a delight to see the quilts everyone had made.
This is Kaye's cross stitch purchased on her travels to China.
Sandi's quilt from Alison Schwabe's workshop.
Val's cosy shaggy hexagons on polar fleece.
Ursula's jelly roll with dragon flies.
So many beautifuls pieces and lots of inspiration for us all.

Thanks so much to the girls who organised the day, prepared and delivered the food, helped set up the hall, washed the dishes and travelled many miles to spend the day together.

A true Friendship Day indeed.
