Only two weeks to go!

First a little apology to Muriel for not remembering that she is the owner of this sweet "Fairy Quilt". Thanks Muriel for reminding me and well done for sewing up such a beauty.

Quilters all over town are busy finishing off their work in readiness for our big "Public Hanging" in just 2 weeks time. Stacks and piles are getting bigger every day!
While the name of our show sounds just a tad gruesome, the hundreds of fresh new quilts on display will be far from macabre.
The best of the quilts produced by The Patch over the past three years will be adorning the verandahs and gardens of the historic Priory Hotel and if previous "Public Hangings" are anything to go by, the atmosphere will be amazing.

Warning: Picture heavy post

There was a big turn out at the Patch on Thursday night.
It was our last meeting before the collecting of quilts together for our "Public Hanging"
Everyone has been working hard to finish items for display and sale.

Show & tell was spectacular.
I'm sorry some of the pics are a bit blurry, some are crooked and most of them were quickly snapped  without taking time to pose for the camera.

This beautiful masterpiece is Helen's.

Mary (aka Maria) did the next 3 quilts and 4 table runners. She's been a busy girl and such lovely work it is too. Go to her blog to see more of the gorgeous Bargello

This gorgeous one is Teena's. It looks a bit Christmassy.
Ros's  Round Robin, newly back from the long arm quilter. Well done Ros.

I'm not even sure who owns this pretty fairy quilt. If you do, contact me and I'll put their name here.
The next fun one was made by Muriel.

Zoom in on this one to see the panels.
Anita is going to have her first quilt ready for the show. Isn't she clever.
Barb U. has done this tablecloth, the colours are lovely Barb
Ursula has been knitting wool socks while the rest of us chatted.
Barb M. has been perfecting her quilting on this cheery rainbow runner.
Here's a close up of the reverse.

Barb also did this bright stunner using high loft wadding, it looks so cosy .

.
Loris' bright panels are  cheeryand her "Whole Cloth" quilt is magnificent.
Donna made this sweet little bag and it's not my fault it's blurry, she wouldn't hold it still.
This "Breaking the Drought" is Donna's too. Wonderful.

All is not lost!

This is a sad tale but it does have a happy ending. So long ago now we had a "Paper Bag" swap with Club Quilt and everyone posted fabrics and trims along with some sweets to our appointed partner.

Mary P from The Patch worked very hard sewing the fabric Deb from Club Quilt had sent. She stitched and shaped and worried about the gift she was making for Deb until the deadline had passed and she was now quite late with the sending. Life had got in the way for Mary and this made her even later!

A bright little table runner had duly arrived from Deb at Mary's home but still Deb was waiting patiently on the other side of this wide brown land for her gift.

As soon as Mary had her parcel ready she popped into the post office to send it off. It was a fairly big parcel too, filled with extras to apologise for the lateness of the delivery.

The stars were not aligned that day and the package never arrived at Deb's address, we all waited and hoped, emails were sent between Deb & Mary, myself and Peg (the swap mothers), visits and phone calls were made to post offices across the country but NOTHING, ZILCH, NADA! The parcel had vanished as sometimes they do into the very bowels of the post office.

Mary was distraught, of course,  Deb's choice of fabric was missing along with the parcel. What to do?

Make another gift and quickly, choosing a replacement fabric that she hopes Deb will also like and send it with prayers!

Success at last, yesterday we heard that this gorgeous hexie bag is now safely in Deb's possession.
Enjoy it Deb and who knows....just maybe the missing parcel will turn up one day too!

Still Swapping

Our club paper bag swap with Club Quilt Narromine is alsmost over. There is just one parcel left to arrive and sadly it appears to have been swallowed by the big bad PO. Sorry to all our loyal hard working posties but we have to blame somebody. While talking about this  I suddenly realised it's been a while since I did a catch up post of these goodies. Here's a few to feast your eyes on.
I've pinched some pics from clubquilt's blog. Sorry Peg!
Here's the lovely box Rosemary sent to Fiona.

The gorgeous Christmas wall hanging from Karri to Linda.

This fabulous folder from Dale to Loris.

and the quirky bag from Loris to Dale.

Two special goodies from Pat to June.
There are still a few to show and of course the lost one to cry over.

A lesson in quilting

The Patch invited Lesley Finch to visit us yesterday. Lesley owns Finchs Nest our LQS, if you count 70kms away as local! The purpose of her visit was to let us absorb as much of her knowledge of free motion quilting as we could and we weren't disappointed. A whole day with Lesley had us all stitching swirls and feathers, zigs and zags all over the practice quilts we'd pinned up ready.
Pay attention girls, we are ready to begin.
Gather round and see what you'll be doing by the end of the day.

Set up your machines just so!
This is how to mark your design.
See it's so easy.
Now quilt away........Lesley did emphasise the need to practice lots, persevere, plan ahead and  RELAX!

We had a great day, thanks so much Lesley for sharing your know how with us all.

Big things are going to happen this Saturday

It will be busy this Saturday when a bunch of us from the Patch gather to learn some new tricks.
Lesley Finch from Finches Nest is coming to show us some quilting pointers. We have her for the whole day and are bound to learn heaps.
We've all been busy preparing our practice quilts. Plain light coloured fabrics all marked out and pinned up ready to go.
Two more sleeps WooHoo!

Friends

came to share in a Friendship Day yesterday.
The Patch was so pleased to invite quilters from Geraldton and Mingenew clubs to share the day with us, Sandi drove the bus full from Gero.

There was food to feast on and plenty of "Chantelle" to feast our eyes on too.

The display was a treat with quilts hanging from every available thing and the chantelle was a source of inspiration for everyone.

Some of these quilts are prizes to be raffled and some are winners at quilt shows. Some are much loved favourites and some newly finished projects.

Dorothy and Jocelyn are cousins. They remember visiting this house as children and Dorothy brought along a photo of herself taken in 1935. She was standing under this exact tree 75 years ago!

Then after a lovely day of friendship our visitors piled back onto their bus and we waved them farewell.
